A structured review of your current systems, with a prioritised roadmap of what to fix, what to replace, and what is fine as it is.

Full Implementation

End-to-end delivery — system builds, cloud migrations and custom application development, taken from design through to running in production.

Best if you already have a defined outcome in mind

Ongoing Support

Continuous monitoring, security patching and feature work, so the system keeps earning its keep long after launch day.

Best if you need it maintained, not just built

Industry Solutions

Solving Real Business Problems

I specialise in helping businesses tackle industry-specific challenges with secure, private technology solutions that protect your data and increase your competitive advantage

Resources & Mining

Keep Your Data Private, Your Operations Running

Rockingham/Perth (WA Mining Hub)

The Challenge

Mining companies handle sensitive geological surveys, blast patterns, and financial data. Most AI solutions send this data to overseas servers, creating security risks and compliance issues.

The Solution

I build AI solutions that keep your data on Australian soil. Your sensitive information never leaves your control, ensuring complete privacy and compliance.

How I Help You Succeed

The Digital Safety Officer

Automate safety reporting and compliance. The system spots patterns in hazard reports and alerts managers before incidents occur, reducing paperwork by 70%.

More time on-site, fewer accidents

Equipment Protection

Monitor remote machinery 24/7. When equipment shows warning signs, it automatically creates work orders and alerts your team before costly breakdowns.

Avoid $50K+/hour downtime costs

Automated Research

Instantly find environmental regulations and council requirements for new projects. What used to take days now takes minutes.

Win more bids faster

Cryptocurrency & Digital Finance

Secure Trading, Private Strategies

Serving Traders & Crypto Businesses Globally

The Challenge

Crypto traders and companies using cloud-based AI risk exposing their trading strategies, private keys, and market intelligence to third parties.

The Solution

I build private trading systems that run on your own secure hardware. Your strategies stay confidential, your data stays protected, your edge stays yours.

How I Help You Succeed

Private Trading Bots

Run automated trading strategies on secure, dedicated systems. No cloud provider sees your methods or your profits.

99.9% uptime, 100% privacy

App Reliability

Keep your cryptocurrency apps and platforms running smoothly during high-traffic periods and market volatility.

Never miss a trading opportunity

Security Scanning

Automatically check new tokens and DeFi projects for security risks before you invest, protecting you from scams.

Legal Services & Justice

Protect Privilege, Scale Justice

Supporting Legal Aid, Law Firms & CLCs

The Challenge

Legal professionals handle confidential client information. Using public AI services risks breaching legal privilege and exposing sensitive case details.

The Solution

I build secure AI systems that process legal documents locally. Client confidentiality is protected, legal privilege is maintained, and you have full audit trails for court requirements.

How I Help You Succeed

Document Review Assistant

Search thousands of pages of legal documents in minutes. Find specific information across police reports, medical records, and witness statements instantly.

Turn weeks into minutes

Client Intake Automation

Automatically assess new client eligibility and prioritise urgent cases, so your team focuses on those who need help most.

Help more people faster

Secure Case Management

Store and analyse evidence securely with full encryption. Connect evidence to legal arguments in one unified system.

Work smarter, win more cases

Mental Health & Social Services

Compassionate Technology, Complete Privacy

Serving Care Providers & NDIS Organisations

The Challenge

Mental health professionals and social service providers must protect sensitive patient data. Generic cloud solutions put confidential health information at risk.

The Solution

I build privacy-first systems that keep patient data completely secure. The technology handles the administrative burden so caregivers can focus on helping people.

How I Help You Succeed

Clinical Note Assistant

Automatically convert session recordings into clinical notes, saving psychologists 10-15 hours of paperwork per week.

More time with patients

Service Eligibility Checker

Instantly verify if clients qualify for NDIS or welfare services, flagging urgent cases for immediate human attention.

Faster help for those in need

Secure Patient Portal

Give patients a safe, easy way to check-in, access resources, and communicate with your team—fully encrypted end-to-end.

Better patient experience

I work with businesses across many sectors. If you handle sensitive data, need to automate complex processes, or want technology that gives you a competitive edge, I can help.

Who You're Working With

Twenty-five years as a systems engineer and solutions architect

I'm Rick Elsum, and 1 Source Systems is my consulting practice. When you engage me, you work with me — not an account manager, not a rotating team, not an offshore hand-off.

Modern tooling has collapsed the typing. What it hasn't compressed is judgement: knowing that a green dashboard is a claim and not evidence, that a container reporting healthy and a container being healthy are different propositions, that a broad range in an allowlist reads as a restriction and functions as a hole. That catalogue of the specific ways things fail quietly is what twenty-five years actually buys — and it is what you are hiring.

I use AI tooling heavily, and I say so openly. It gives me a faster pair of hands. It does not give me the catalogue.
